Due to the lack of any real news today, we here at mega64 are proud to present, Podcast 82. Once again, we streamed this podcast live. What was meant to be a live stream of just the podcast instead turned in to an all night, 12 hour marathon of endurance. We were joined in our lack of sleep by many of you, and for that we tip our hats. Anyone who can sit there and watch Rocco recite half of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” is more man than I. For those of you who missed our half a day live stream, fear not, we still have the original podcast here for your viewing pleasure, and with the lack of things on TV today, what else are you going to do with your time. Audio folks click here!
Thanks guys, I am sure we will do something like this again, and next time we will give you all much more of a heads up.
Last week when we did our absolutely retarded 12 hour impromptu livecast thing, our good friend “AbortionsTickle” suggested we start putting entire videos of our convention panels/Q&A sessions that we do. Realizing that we’re Youtube partners and thus have the ability to post gigantic HD video files, we decided this was finally feasible. So now, every once in a while, we’re going to start posting convention panel/Q&A videos from completely random points in time. Some of them are even in HD! We started with our panel from Anime Expo in 2007. Watch it here, or watch it in HD on Youtube!
So here’s where we also inform you that we are going to be on the G4 network’s show “X PLAY” with Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb this Monday, January 26th at 8PM ET/5PM PT. We’re actually going to be in the studio, talking about the show and maybe even premiering some new clips! Who knows, maybe Adam will even try his best Marcus impression! Ha ha! Picture that! So funny!!
We promise it will be better than the time you could see the back of our heads on The Screen Savers.
This has been an exciting week for us here at Mega64… we filmed another chunk of Version 3: Episode 4, we were featured on G4′s “X Play,” and now here we are bringing you podcast 83. In this podcast we talk LOST, Fall Out 3, and much more. I hope you bring an empty stomach, and a smile. Let’s go! Audio people, you know where to click.
Check back soon, to hear a more in depth review of our experience at G4!
Tonight we were on the show “Xplay” on G4. We showed what will (obviously) be heralded as the greatest video on the internet (Well, third greatest at least). You can watch “House of Cards” here.
The folks at Xplay (which despite our past ugly run-ins with G4, were all incredibly cool and nice), really wanted us to debut a new skit alongside our interview. While we were attempting something infinitely more elaborate, there just wasn’t enough time, leading us to open our vault and release the very gem we enchanted audiences with at PAX a summer ago. I think Mr. Sessler was just a little bit mesmerized.
If you didn’t see the interview, you can watch below!
The information in the interview is a lot of stuff our hardcore fans have heard a thousand times, but those same “hardcores” might want to keep an eye peeled for a couple fleeting seconds of new footage from our upcoming musical (!), as well as Shawn’s name graphic being adorned with a pretty epic inside joke.
Our time at the G4 studios was pretty short, but it was a really nice experience. Back in 2004 when we pitched our show to the network, it was kind of an awkward, cold experience, and I was left with a really bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing. People seemed very caught up in their own world (and apparently proud of the Japanese drift racing shows they were airing nonstop at the time). That really wasn’t the case today, at all. I can’t remember the last time we finished an interview and just hung out and talked with the crew for a while. Everyone seemed actually interested in making fun, worthwhile content for their viewers.
I was especially elated to finally get to blurt out all my fanboy business to Adam Sessler- I’ve seen him in just about every incarnation of his show, dating way back a decade ago to the ZDTV days (which was a high school obsession of mine, a story for a much later day). He actually had a vague memory of signing my “Ico” game cover at Comic Con 2001 when he was hosting the show with Kate Botello. He then offered an apology for the quality of ZDTV’s old days, citing them to be “just stuff happening where there happened to be a camera on.” I think maybe that’s what appealed to me about that old channel in the first place- That it was just a bunch of underproduced shows, with people who seemed just like regular people, talking fun gadgets. The shows were quiet and informational, and that contrast to everything else on TV was what made that old channel just a breath a fresh air. Granted, it had its financial flaws (which were ultimately fatal), but to a high school kid who was interested in one day working in the technology field, those shows were really pretty special. I wanted to blurt out other such fanboyisms to Morgan Webb, but in the handful of times I have been in the same room as her, she just always seems to be walking somewhere else.
Anyway, that’s a lot of talk over such a small update. I’ll hush myself for now, but we’ll be back soon. We have something pretty cool coming up.
