AN E3 SURPRISE!! MEGA64 BRINGS KOJIMA’S NEW VISION TO LIFE
Friday, June 3rd, 2011
If you’re following all the pre-E3 coverage and whatnot, you may have already seen this, but no matter- It is our absolute honor and privilege to share with you: Kojima Productions’ official trailer for their new “Transfarring” system, and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection… AND the Zone of the Enders HD Collection. An official trailer brought to you by… us?!
It’s true, and we are as amazed as you are. Hideo Kojima himself handpicked Mega64 to demonstrate the concept of his new “Transfarring” system. What is that, you ask? It’s his new way of playing games- By continuing your progress/game save either on a home console OR a portable. It’s something we were already legitimately excited about ever since Hideo talked about it at the NGP conference last year, and we couldn’t be happier to be involved in its debut.
You can watch the trailer right here!
The process in making this video/trailer was really interesting. It’s a very different approach to a collaboration than our previous encounter with Kojima! In our Metal Gear Solid 4 video from a couple years back, we had Hideo joining in on the fun in some on-camera antics that were mostly Mega64′s own brainchild. This time around, it was a little bit of the opposite- It was the entire Mega64 cast, acting in a scenario that featured many of Hideo’s own ideas. He was unable to leave Japan for this year’s E3, so the task was on us to bring his concepts to life in an interesting way. And interesting is certainly one way to describe it!
Hideo and the rest of Kojima Productions were great in the sense that they were always on the same page in terms of humor. In fact, Mr. Kojima even thought it was a good idea to completely dub and translate our video into a full Japanese version! You can watch that version here! The impressive part about this is the awesome cast they assembled for the dub. Here’s the actual cast list:
- Janitor: Akio Ohtsuka (Solid Snake in MGS series!)
- Soldiers/Xbox 360 Fan Man: Hochu Otsuka (Galvez in MGS Peace Walker,
