8/19/08: LONG LOST REJECTED AD BY MEGA64 SURFACES! PODCAST 61 EMERGES! SEXY64 CONTEST BEGINS! FANEXPO AWAITS!
After over a year of being buried away in the Mega64 vaults, we've finally released an ad we did for a guitar-based Nintendo DS game (which we won't say the title of). It ended up catching heat from the ratings board (not the game company) over something we did in it. It's uncut and a little long, but watch it with some friends and see if you can guess why the ad got rejected before the video is over. It's a fun challenge, because you're probably going to guess wrong. Very wrong.
We also wanted to tell you that we've officially begun our new Sexy64 contest! The guys-only gaming league is offering a VERY sexy prize to the best entry in one of these categories.
Weating a Sexy64 shirt, do one of these:
-Take a photo of yourself picking up girls (But NOT letting them play games)
OR
-Make a Youtube video showcasing your sexiness and/or recruiting new members!
Send your entries to sexy64@mega64.com! The contest will close in a couple weeks (date TBA) so be quick!
Just like Comic Con, you'll be able to pick up a Con 2008 Exclusive DVD at the booth, and if you think you're fan enough, ask about the trivia challenge to win one of our few remaining secret posters...
Oh oh! Here's this week's podcast! We review George Lucas' latest masterpiece, the Clone Wars. Watch below or subscribe to the left! Until next week...
8/12/08: SEE US LIVE AT THESE CONVENTIONS! SEE US RECORDED ON PODCAST #60!
So we'd like to take this opportunity to confirm the conventions we'll be appearing at for the rest of the summer- If you can make it, come to these upcoming events to meet the Mega64 crew, pick up a Con exclusive DVD, and have us sign stuff! Preferrably not moist things.
So come see us! But hey, if you can't make it, it's okay- We still have our podcasts together. Which brings us to this week's Mega64 Podcast #60. We invite special guests Eric Baudour and Fernando from Jabronie Pictures to discuss and remember the legacy of Bernie Mac. Watch below or subscribe to the left.
That's it for now, but don't stray too far- The Sexy64 contest is starting VERY soon! And a new website design, finally! Later, bro!
The new podcast is up too- We recap the event, with Q&A from our screening event last week! Watch below or subscribe to the left!
We wanted to thank everyone again who came to our screening- That night was absolute magic. We hope you enjoyed the new episode! And another thanks if you came by our Comic Con booth- You made this year... a lot better than last year.
We hate to end this on a downer note, but if you ordered merchandise recently, we have to ask you to be patient- On the way out of Comic Con, some jerks stole a few bins of our shirts, so some sizes are completely gone and need to be reprinted. We'll do it really fast, but we just have to apologize for the people that ruined this for you guys. We'll include some neat prizes that will hopefully make it up to you, but still... sad.
Anyway, we're taking some time off, so there probably won't be a podcast next week. But keep tuning in- The Sexy64 contest is about to start! Are you ready?
See you soon!
7/22/08: SEXY64- THE ALL GUYS GAMING LEAGUE RETURNS! COMIC CON WEEK APPEARS WITH PODCAST 58 IN TOW!
And due to popular demand, we've also re-printed our Version 2 DVD. These have been out of stock for a while, so this is definitely a good thing. This time around, they have special limited edition disc art you have to see to believe! Buy now on our ressurected merch page, or pick one up at Comic Con!
Speaking of Comic Con- Don't forget that we'll be selling all our current merch as well as plenty of copies of our new Con 2008 Exclusive DVD. That thing is packed, and we will sign any and all of these things as well. Remember to spin our Wheel of Mystery too, yes?
We would also like to announce that, in keeping with Con tradition, we will present a Mega64 trivia challenge! If you feel like you are truly THE most hardcore Mega64 fan, then come by our booth and ask about the challenge. If you can successfully answer our GRUELING trivia questions, then your prize shall be a limited edition Mega64 Con 2008 Exclusive Poster (Only 50 in existence!). Are you man enough for it?
Oh yeah, we did a podcast too, didn't we? We don't really talk about Sexy64 because we filmed this kinda early. But we do talk about the WONDER that was E3! Check it out and subscribe.
See you at Comic Con... and the screening!
7/16/08: MEGA64 E3 VIDEOS HIT IGN , AND OTHER NEWZ NUGGETZ
Tonight they'll be releasing their Day 2 video, "Nintendo Keynote 2009." If Nintendo's E3 offerings moved you like they did us, you will definitely enjoy this film.
Tomorrow? Who knows! Maybe it'll be the best video of all! Maybe it'll be the worst! Maybe some of us will actually get to go to sleep at some point oh my goddddd
Anyway, don't forget there's just over a week until the "Evening of Mega64" screening event! Tickets are still available- order now before the link goes away!
And Comic Con is next week too, sheesh! We're getting ready for that right now, preparing a brand new shipment of Version 2 DVDs, our new Con 2008 Exclusive DVD, and all our other merch (with a surprise or two). We'll sign it all too, if you want that for some reason. We also have one more surprise that we'll unveil before the con... but what could it be?
Here's some links to kill the time (and your wallet!)
7/14/08: MEGA64 TEAMS UP WITH IGN FOR E3 WEEK WITH PODCAST 57 KICKOFF!
Forget your Halos and Resident whatever- The BIGGEST announcement of E3 this week is Mega64's series of brand new videos for the E3 2008 show!
Mega64 is teaming up with IGN to bring you a brand new video every day of the show! These videos will be filmed each day during the show, and put up that very night! Sure, we're losing a little more sleep with this kind of schedule, but "UNO RUSH" at the end of the tunnel will keep our souls going a little longer.
Come back tomorrow for our first video of the show, featuring some old friends- Until then, watch the Mega64 Podcast Episode 57, which explains... none of the above, in any capacity. Watch below our subscribe to the left! See you tomorrow!
7/8/08: MEGA64 RETURNS FROM ANIME EXPO WITH "COSPLAYERZ" AND PODCAST 56! MEGA64 COMES TO UK TELEVISION! CON EXCLUSIVE DVD ANNOUNCED! AND AN E3 MYSTERY? MY HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLO-
The Mega64 crew has returned from their breathtaking panel at Anime Expo with gifts for you!
Then they filmed the Mega64 Podcast #56, where they reminisced of their wild weekend- But we'll get to that in a second- We have some big news updates first!
Ladies and gentleman (or at least, the British ones)... MEGA64 IS COMING TO TV. The Sky channel has signed to air classic Mega64 half-hour episodes (Version 1 and 2) during their block of gaming programming. There might even be new episodes if enough of you guys watch it! We'll have more details later, but man... those Brits are pretty gutsy, eh?
We'd also like to announce that this summer, we'll be selling a CON 2008 EXCLUSIVE DVD at each of our upcoming convention appearances! It's packed with tons of videos such as:
-Assassin's Creed skit!
-Street Fighter II skit!
-The complete Marcus' Corner series!
-The GDC videos!
-Poqueoblog!
-IGN Insider videos "IGN Awards" and "Wii Fit Makes You Hot!"
-And the
FEATURE PRESENTATION of Mega64's film collaboration with game industry visionary Tommy Tallarico- The exciting new movie "GAMER WARZ." You have to see it to believe it.
The DVD will be full of other video surprises too- But perhaps the biggest shocker of all is on the disc's exterior- This DVD will have REVOLUTIONARY NEW TECHNOLOGY to make them SMELL LIKE FRESH BAKED CINNAMON ROLLS. This is NOT a joke. They will smell DELICIOUS. Your first chance to pick up the disc will be at Comic Con in San Diego, so be sure to stop by our booth #5364!
E3, the big video game press event, is next week- And Mega64 just might be involved in it somehow. In fact, it might actually be really, really cool. Stay tuned.
OKAY THAT'S IT FOR NOW WATCH THE PODCAST BELOW OR SUBSCRIBE ON THE LEFT OKAY BYE!!
7/1/08: PODCAST 55 GOES TO THE FAIR- SEE YOU AT ANIME EXPO ON SATURDAY!
The Mega64 Podcast Episode 55 is up- In this episode, the crew meets at the office to have a roundtable discussion, and reminisce about their trip to the fair that day. With reviews of Metal Gear Solid 4, The Happening, Get Smart, and Wall-E, this podcast is arguably the most real, ever.
Watch the video version below or subscribe to the left. And also, don't forget that we'll be at Anime Expo this Saturday, July 5th, at 4PM! It's going to be one crazy-ass panel... for better or for worse. See you then!
6/26/08: "AN EVENING OF MEGA64" TICKETS NOW ON SALE!
6/24/08: MEGA64 TRIPLE PODCAST BRINGS MINGHAGS, FATALITIES, AND MEXICANS!
The Mega64 crew has gone their separate ways, dividing this week's podcast into three podcasts in one! Watch as our beloved crew disassembles and travels across the globe, each bringing back their own piece to the podcast! But which part is better?
-Rocco travels to Kansas City to get Metal Gear Solid 4 impressions with Lowtax of SomethingAwful.com, and then escapes to Pennsylvania to meet up with director Joe Frantz to discuss Bam Margera's new movie, Minghags (with exclusive new clips)!
-Derrick ventures through San Diego to ask the burning questions, just before he is met with a fatal ending at the cliffs!
-Shawn soars by plane, truck, and ship through Mexico and answers all the questions the fans have been aching to know (while getting interrupted like 47 times by vendors)!
Watch below or subscribe to the left! It's an epic one!
Which part of the podcast is best? Email podcast@mega64.com to let us know who the victor will be!
Be sure to watch Gametrailers TV every Friday night at 1AM on SpikeTV. We've been a big fan of Geoff and the gang for a while (Remember when we were on "Gamehead?").
We'd also like to remind everyone that we're still planning our panel at ANIME EXPO on Saturday, July 5th at 4PM! We wanted to clarify that it is at 4PM, DESPITE WHAT THE ANIME EXPO WEBSITE SAYS. It's at 4PM, NOT 5:30. They're gonna fix that on their site soon, totally. But yeah. 4PM. Not 5:30.
Wait a second... the crew was supposed to do a podcast this week, right? What happened? Wasn't it supposed to be up days ago? Where did the Mega64 crew go? It's like they haven't even been around... did something bad happen? Where did everyone go?
Maybe we'll find out on Tuesday? Come back then!
6/17/08: WHERE HAVE ALL THE PODCASTS GONE
This day, Tuesday, the day that this site is typically graced with a new podcast, is in shambles! Not only is the podcast missing, but rumor has it that the Mega64 crew has split apart and gone their separate ways!
Could this be true? Where in the world are the Mega64 crew right now? Will they reunite in the end? Where will each of their journeys take them?
Find out when the delayed Mega64 Podcast 54 goes up at the end of the week, just following the Marcus' Corner season finale!
THE TORTURE WILL FINALLY END
GOD HELP US ALL
6/13/08: LET'S WATCH MARCUS' CORNER EPISODE 5!
Marcus is back on his usual Friday routine to bring you Marcus' Corner Episode 5! This week, he pays a visit to world-famous video game composer/personality Tommy Tallarico. Be prepared for a very musically-inclined episode! You should also be prepared for intellectual conversation, of course. I figured that was kind of a given with Marcus.
Some other interesting developments have happened! Be prepared for an epic podcast on Tuesday to see the current state of the Mega64 crew- Are they thriving on success or caught in a whirlwind of despair? All will be revealed Tuesday!
See you then!
6/10/08: MEGA64'S NEW ASSASSIN'S CREED SKIT TOTALLY OVERSHADOWS PODCAST #53!
We should also note that even though we've worked with Ubisoft in the past, they didn't have anything to do with the creation of this video. It's made only by us (and Dr. Poque) out of homage to the game!
Once again, we thought we'd let you know that we have a panel at Anime Expo on Saturday, July 5th at 4PM in Room LP1 (Hall B). Their site still lists it as 5:30 or something, but no, it's 4PM. For sure. It's going to be a lot of fun- we have lots of videos, live antics, and some big surprises to unveil there! Come on, you know it'll be fun.
Oh oh oh! Wait, we put up a new podcast! Here, watch it below or subscribe to the left. Shawn was badly injured during this week's filming, so this week he is replaced by rapper/actor Dallas McLaughlin. Check it!
We'll be back on Friday for Marcus' Corner Episode 5! Later!
6/6/08: MARCUS' CORNER EPISODE 4 GOES BEYOND THE GAME INDUSTRY?
HEAR YE HEAR YE, Marcus has returned for Marcus' Corner Episode 4! However, this is not your normal episode- This week, Marcus takes his first step OUTSIDE THE GAME INDUSTRY to de-stress after last week's episode. He sits down with author Dick Masterson, master in the art of chauvinism. Will Marcus be able to compose himself in the face of his one true idol?
We hope you enjoy the show! We should also mention that we have announced our panel at ANIME EXPO in Los Angeles! It's on Saturday, July 5th at 4PM (despite what AX's out-of-date site schedule might tell you). The event is going to be called the MEGA64 PANEL OF DOOM, and is sure to be the most exciting, death-defying panel Anime Expo has ever seen! There will be some big surprises and shockers! Can you handle that? We think you can handle that.
We should also let you know that the TENTATIVE date of our next theater screening event is Thursday, July 24th (the week of Comic Con!). It's going to be an exciting live event with the whole crew in action! You don't want to miss it. Ticket preorders will be coming soon!
We'll see you on Tuesday for the next podcast!
6/3/08: MEGA64 PRODUCES AD FOR ALIEN HOMINID HD (AND FARTS OUT PODCAST #52 TOO) WITH LIVE APPEARANCE NEWS BONUS!
A lot of you are eagerly anticiptating the new game coming to Xbox Live this summer, Castle Crashers. But we bet a lot of you forgot that The Behemoth's previous game, Alien Hominid HD, is still up for download on Xbox Live Arcade. The Behemoth dudes hired us to create an effective and motivating ad to remind the public of this software's everlasting relevance. Watch this Mega64 produced Alien Hominid video and be sure to download the game if you haven't already! The video explains how to do it, and clearly, it couldn't get any easier.
We also just released Podcast #52, where we pay respect to the victims of Universal-Firestorm-2008, and talk about our Marcus' Corner filming experiences so far. Watch below, subscribe to the left.
Just real quick, we'd also like to let you know that the tentative schedule for Mega64's panel at Anime Expo is Saturday, July 5th at 4PM. Even though the AX website says 5:30 or something, it will soon be moved to 4 officially. You heard it here first.
End of July is Comic Con- We are aiming for a screening on Thursday, July 24th. That is TENTATIVE and may change, but that's what it looks like for now.
"Fan Expo" in Toronto in late August is still very much up in the air. Things got weird with that.
PAX is definite- We have a booth and a panel, and at some point, a screening for the Seattle people too. More details later.
Keep it all in mind! We'll see you Friday for Marcus' Corner Episode 4!
Be sure to email your thoughts, questions, and fan mail to marcus@mega64.com! Who knows what'll end up in the show.
See you next Tuesday for a new podcast!
5/28/08: OH YEAH SORRY HERE'S PODCAST 51 MY BAD
So, yeah, the Mega64 Podcast is a little late this week. It was a holiday weekend! What do you expect?
Episode 51 is filled with dapper gents, Wii Fit, Indiana Jones, and... fast food. Watch below or subscribe to the left!
In other news, the unbelievable has happened: Youtube actually featured a Mega64 video. It wasn't on the front page or anything, but Marcus' Corner Episode 2 is actually one of Youtube's featured "Science and Technology" clips this week. Crazy, huh? And after all these years, we thought they hated us! Actually, after seeing what they normally feature, maybe they still do.
We'll see you on Friday for Marcus' Corner episode 3!
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend and see you Tuesday for the next podcast!
5/20/08: MEGA64 50TH ANNIVERSARY PODCAST!! AT DISNEYLAND!!
Mega64 is celebrating their 50TH ANNIVERSARY podcast by going back to Disneyland! Let us celebrate 50 episodes worth of the happiest podcast on Earth at the happiest place on Earth (other than Del Taco). Watch below or subscribe to the left!
Marcus had this to say in his official press release:
"HELLO LADIES THIS IS MARCUS WHOAH WHOAH WHOAH DONT TAKE YOUR PANTIES OFF YET. LET ME SAY WHAT I GOT TO THEN WE WILL GET TO THE MAIN SHOW WHERE I LOOK YOUR BODY OVER AND DECIDED IF YOU ARE HOTT ENOUGH TO Poke. OK YOU READY FOR THE BIG NEWS? WHATEVER WATCH THE SHOW ITS GOOD CAUSE IM IN IT. OK THATS IT FOR NOW STOP TWLITING YOUR TITTIE TAT AND WATCH THE SHOW
I think that says it all. If you have any comments, questions, fanart, or other questionable items for Marcus, email it to marcus@mega64.com and he just might bring it up on the show (Is that a good thing or a bad thing?)!
We also wanted to mention really quick that the official Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) 2007 DVD is now on sale too! The DVD has a documentary filmed and edited by Rocco called "FanPAXtic: A Visual Journey of the Penny Arcade Expo," documenting the stranger parts of the PAX experience. Should you buy it? Well, most video game fans who are interested in the inner-workings and goings-on of a huge event like this will probably love it. As for diehard Mega64 fans- The documentary Rocco made is pretty much a 40-ish minute video in the style of what you'd see in one of our Comic Con videos. Only it's filmed a lot nicer. Does that appeal to you? If so, buy away. If not, buy it anyway to hear Wil Wheaton tell some funny jokes!!
Come back Tuesday for a new podcast, and every upcoming Friday for a new Marcus' Corner! And a new site design still on the way! OH MY GOD IT'S LIKE A DIGITAL CHRISTMAS
HO HO HO SEE YA NEXT TIME KIDS
5/13/08: MEGA64 REVOLUTIONIZES PODCASTS WITH CORN DOG TECHNOLOGY
Mega64 has once again RAISED THE PODCAST BAR with Episode 49, where the crew BOLDLY utilizes corn dogs to establish the most moving podcast ever recorded.

Something strange is going on... Come back at the end of the week and maybe we'll all understand.
5/8/08: OH YEAH SORRY ABOUT THAT HERE'S PODCAST #48 AND SOME QUICK NEWS UPDATES K
Yeah, so, we know we're late updating the main page with this week's new podcast. We were totally not slacking, either- We got a bunch of new computers and internet set up at our offices (hooray), but with that came a delay for you, our loyal viewers. With our apologies comes Podcast 48, finally fresh off the servers- And those who already saw it on iTunes say it's one of the best ones. What do you think? Watch for yourself below or subscribe to the left!
Okay, so, time for a few quick news updates:
-Hoodies are completely gone. Sorry.
-Version 2 DVDs are still gone, Version 1 still almost gone. Please buy Version 1.
-We've confirmed a bunch of convention appearances for the summer- Possibly one in another country? Stay tuned to next week's podcast.
-A site redesign is REALLY HONESTLY COMING SOON.
-A big video event is coming to the site EVEN WAY SOONER.
The PAX DVD is a chronicling of one of the world's biggest video game expos, spanning five discs, with keynotes, panels, concerts, and more! It'll be on sale in the Penny Arcade store sometime in May. Be sure to check it out when it drops. (Did I just say "drops?" Seriously?)
Anyway, the Mega64 Podcast #47 is up as well. In this episode, we give a little commentary on our newest video, as well as the two latest videos on IGN's Insider service. Watch below, subscribe to the left- You know how it go. ("You know how it go?" I said that too?)
That's it for this week- We should inform you that Mega64.com is FINALLY getting a long overdue upgrade very soon, to make the site way more slick and functional than ever before. You're gonna love it. It's gonna make CNN.com and eToys.com just look like total crap. It's gonna be sick! (Sick? Really? Man, what an annoying update.)
See ya soon!
4/22/08: MEGA64 RELEASES A NEW VIDEO, AND THEN ALSO PODCAST #46.
What is the video? It is a beacon of things to come. It is the beginning of an upcoming Mega64 onslaught that cannot be reckoned with. There is more, and it is coming.
The Mega64 Podcast episode 46 is also up. Watch below or subscribe to the left. We discuss FireHotQuotes.com, Mortal Kombat, Evangelion, and as usual, Sabritones.
4/15/08: PODCAST 45 RISES, SURPRISES OVER THE HORIZON?
Podcast 45 is up! You know the drill- Watch below or subscribe to the left. This week we talk about our IGN God of Games video, Star Wars, Dick Masterson's new book about the art of chauvinism, and Doritos that taste eerily like chinese food.
Done with the podcast and wondering what's next? Yeah, us too. A lot of you noticed our Version 2 DVDs are out of stock on Awfulmart. Well, I'm happy to say that we're currently working on bringing them back on sale over at the Penny Arcade store, so please be patient with us- They ARE coming back!
Hoodies are also almost gone- We know it's getting hotter outside, but there's really very few left. Order now if you want one!
We also really, really want to redesign the site soon. With RSS and all that junk. But man, we're having a lot of problems. We'll fix it soon, though. I hope.
We're juggling so many surprises right now that it feels unreal. It feels like we're drowning in radness. Some of that radness might just have to leak out soon. In fact, maybe a little surprise will leak out sometime around this weekend-ish. Y'know, give or take. Hmm. Yeah. Maybe.
Just maybe.
Bye.
4/8/08: PODCAST 44 IS HERE GUYS
The Mega64 Podcast episode 44 is up, right on time. As usual, watch below or subscribe to the left. Don't let the spooky opening fool you- We talk about lighthearted fare such as Iron Man, scooters, Final Fantasy, and critically acclaimed rapper Nas.
We're in the midst of filming Version 3. And yeah, it's pretty exciting. But we're really busy. So we'll be back soon with crazy news and new videos! Promise. Please don't go.
4/1/08: MEGA64 COMPANY HOODIES ON SALE, PODCAST 43 ON TARGET, IGN VIDEOS ON... ON IGN
Just a couple quick notes for today's quick updates:
-So we've been doing exclusive video content for IGN Insider for a while now, which you should totally subscribe to. But if you want a sample of what you'd be getting, IGN apparently just put up a couple clips we've done for them, for the public to enjoy! Click here and check out two videos, "The God of Games" and "Game of the Year."
-Podcast 43 is up! As usual, watch below or subscribe to the left. We talk about Version 3 filming, horror movie set stories, and lots and lots of your emails!
We hope you enjoy all the new goings-on. There's some really strange stuff coming up in Mega64's future. Really strange. We'll tell you about that later. But trust us- It's gonna be fun.
Until then, friends.
3/19/08: MEGA64 GOES TO VEGAS! WATCH OUR ADS FOR "RAINBOW SIX VEGAS 2!"
As most of you "gamerz" know, today marks the release of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 2 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. We at Mega64 traveled to Las Vegas to film some ads for the game, and you can now watch them online!
Hope you enjoy the new videos... Don't forget we put up a new podcast yesterday too. You can watch it below or subscribe to the left. We don't really talk about the new R6 videos (we'll do that next Tuesday), but we DO talk about, uh... actually, I don't know, I couldn't sit through it.
3/18/08: PODCAST 41, WORD UP!
YO YO YO Podcast 41 is up, watch it below or subscribe to the left!
This week's podcast is full of Smash Bros. talk and viewer emails! We also messed up and didn't record the beginning of our conversation, so it starts kinda abruptly. Sorry!
We'll be back tomorrow with new videos!
3/11/08: THE MEGA64 PODCAST ON LOCATION... SOMEWHERE IN TOMMY TALLARICO'S HOUSE?
This Tuesday, we bring you a very special episode of the Mega64 weekly podcast- We pay a visit to video game industry icon Tommy Tallarico for an EXCLUSIVE interview. We at Mega64 ask this legendary video game composer the HARD HITTING questions no one else has DARED to ask. If you've ever seeked the knowledge and advice necessary to be part of the game industry, THIS is the podcast to see. Watch below or subscribe to the left!
We'd like to apologize to the audio-podcast subscribers, as this week's episode probably sucks without visuals. We're pretty sorry.
We'll be back soon with more new stuff.
3/4/08:MEGA64 DIRECTS FREEZEPOP'S "BRAINPOWER" MUSIC VIDEO! (AND ALSO PODCAST 39 BUT yeah that's not as good)
This past week, we had a video we did a while back leak out in a few places, so we thought we'd just show the definitive version ourselves- Mega64's first music video, for the song "Brainpower" by Freezepop, is now up on Youtube for people to see! And the people are seeing that the DIRECTING WORLD IS CHANGED FOREVER
You may recognize the song from one of our favorite games, "Rock Band." It was a really massive honor to get to do the video for that song specifically, much less for Freezepop! Those of you who know us at all know that we love Freezepop to death- We've featured them in a zillion of our videos. Once again, somehow, we were able to bring this full circle enough to do a video with them. And the result? Well, for being kind of short notice with no budget, we think it turned out alright. See what you think.
We don't have it up for download or anything just yet, because I think it'll be available through iTunes soon instead. Or something. In fact, we're not even sure where this video's supposed to be showing up, so don't be surprise if we suddenly yank it down or something.
Oh... wait, you're done with all that? Well, uh... watch Podcast #39, then, I guess. It's got little to no Freezepop in it, but there ARE Sabritones.
We'll be back soon with some new stuff- Hopefully a new website design soon, and some new merchandise we've been working on. But even if all else fails... we think you'll at least be pretty surprised by next week's podcast. It's gonna be... interesting.
Until then!
2/26/08: MEGA64 RETURNS FROM GDC WITH THEIR INDIE AWARDS VIDEOS! (NOW WITH PODCAST 38)
2/26/08 - Just a quick edit to let you know that the Mega64 Podcast #38 is up. It's a really short, weak-ass podcast, but since we were busy (and incredibly sick) in San Francisco, it's all we could do. We'll give you a good one next week. And an even better one after that.
Subscribe to the left or watch it below. The rest of the site update info is below that!
2/25/08: MEGA64 RETURNS FROM GDC WITH THEIR INDIE AWARDS VIDEOS!
So as you may have heard, Mega64 once again provided videos for the big awards show at the Game Developers Conference. This year, though, their videos instead focused on the independent games. Was the Mega64 crew indie enough to do the game industry justice! Watch these new videos to find out!
We had a great time at this year's GDC, and we'd like to thank each and every one of you that stopped by to say hello to us. Every year you guys make it really special for all of us.
My favorite thing about GDC is how every time we go, we seem to have one defining moment that makes us realize, "Wow, this was totally all worth it." This year, for me, it was Jason Della Rocca, after winning his Ambassador Award, coming down to tell us that Ralph Baer, the father of modern video games, apparently looked like he was going to have a heart attack during our awards intro video. Now of course we love Mr. Baer and everything he's done for video games, and would never wish any ill will unto him. But just the fact that we even heard that spoken to us was just a mindblower- How the hell did we get here? I mean, really? (Love you, Ralph).
There should be a new podcast tomorrow. We didn't really have time to make one with the show running and all, so expect it to be pretty weak. Hey, we just gave you four new videos, what more do you want? I'm gonna go take a nap.
2/12/08: MEGA64 PODCAST 36: THE HAPPIEST PODCAST ON EARTH!
This week's Mega64 Podcast (Episode 36) is WITHOUT A DOUBT the happiest podcast you will ever download. This episode is an HONOR and a TRIBUTE to the late Walter Disney, and is dedicated to his honor, as we talk about the latest Rock Band cuts, Meet the Spartans, and duck-themed restaurants. Please watch below, or subscribe to the left.
Once again, IGN Insider subscribers will get an interesting new video this coming Thursday. Aside from that, it might be kinda quiet here for a little bit. It's because we're going to be traveling all over the place soon, for a variety of reasons we can't quite discuss yet. But come back every Tuesday for our podcast to see exactly where our travels take us...
See you next week!
2/5/08: MEGA64 PODCAST 35 IS HERE GUYS
The 35th Mega64 Podcast is here and ready for you. Is it worth your time? This is a question only you can answer. But no, it's not.
Check it from the links on the sidebar, or watch it on Google Video below!
IGN Insider subscribers should know that we have a new video coming up for their service on Thursday. It's certainly an interesting piece!
We'll be back soon with more neat stuff.
1/31/08: FIRST MEGA64 WEBISODE SERVED WITH A CLASSIC SKIT!
We are pleased to announce the release of Mega64's first online Webisode! Our webisodes are going to be little story-pieces centered around the characters of the Mega64 world. Our first one features Dr. Poque, creator of the Mega64, as he receives some fascinating business advice from his co-conspirator/roommate, Horatio. It's called "Poqueoblog."
Of course, people who have bought our DVDs before are already familiar with these characters. A lot of people on the internet don't realize that our DVDs feature half-hour episodes, with a mix of characters/storylines and Mega64 video game skits mashed all together. It's for that reason today that we're also offering up a classic skit from our archives- The Luigi's Mansion skit.
So basically, if you've already seen our DVDs, then you've already seen Luigi's Mansion. But hey, enjoy a new segment featuring our characters! If you haven't seen our DVDs but hate anything with a storyline, then just watch Luigi's Mansion. This is absolutely win-win, here, people.
It's really weird for me looking back at the Luigi's Mansion video. I don't know if it still stands up. I think it was kind of scary for us at the time, because we were still new at the whole thing, and we were kinda messing up somebody else's house. But now I look back and realize that all we were really doing was vacuuming. I think if we filmed this today, we'd have probably more directly towards peoples' faces, culminating in an angry soccer coach trying to take our camera away. Oh, and we'd all be shirtless. Maybe that's saying something about where Mega64 is really heading.
Anyway, a few news items:
-We will once again be doing the videos for the Game Developers Conference. This year, we'll be doing some slightly stranger videos for the independent games award ceremony. It'll be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on February 20th, so y'know, if you already have a badge for that thing, come check it out. And say hi to us, because we'll probably be walking around there all week. And probably lonely.
-Yes, we directed a music video for Freezepop, but no, we have no idea where it is right now.
-The PAX 2007 DVD, featuring the full-length documentary "FanPAXTic!: A Visual Journey of the Penny Arcade Expo," made by Rocco, is projected to be released in late February or early March.
-The site will be redesigned soon, and we just might introduce a new weekly feature with it that our hardcore fans will really, really like.
Come back Tuesday for a new podcast where we'll discuss all this new stuff going on. Thanks for supporting Mega64. We don't know why you do it, but we still appreciate it so, so much.
1/29/08: MAN WHAT HAPPENED TO PODCAST 34?
Yeah, so, in case you didn't notice, last Tuesday's podcast (Number 34) didn't go up as planned. There are server-ish things going on behind the scenes and we just plain couldn't upload it to you.
We're sorry we let you down! We should let you know now, though, that the episode is now online, and you can download it from the links on the left, or watch it below. The only catch is, the Flash version below only has roughly half of the podcast. To get the whole thing, you'll have to subscribe to the feed! (That's not a form of punishment, it's that Blip.TV kinda sucks).
Before we go, we thought we should tell you that our Version 1 and 2 DVDs are just about gone. Actually Version 2 is totally sold out, but Version 1 still has a few copies left. And we seriously mean just a few. Once they're gone, they won't be back at that price again... if they come back at all!
We'll be back in a few days with a new video! Please return, okay?
1/18/08: MEGA64 PLAYS A CARD GAME wait what happened here
For years, people have asked us what would happen if we played something that wasn't a video game. Our natural thought was "Let's play cards!" But alas, twelve games of Go Fish later, we were ready to end Mega64 for good.
We'll talk about this video, and some other fun stuff, on Tuesday's Mega64 Podcast. See you then!
1/15/08: MEGA64 PODCAST EPISODE 33! HAVE A LOOK SON
Our newest podcast for the week of 1/15 is finally online! As usual, download it from the links on the left, or watch it below. We have a ton of guests this week as we talk about "There Will Be Blood," the whole Star Wars/Soul Calibur thing, Goldeneye, and Garrett eating smelly pork snacks!
We're still getting the iTunes video podcast thing sorted, so bear with us for a little longer.
In the meantime, you can still bid on a jar of Rock Jam- we just realized we didn't get this on the front page until a little while ago, so there's not that many bids. What a PERFECT opportunity to seize the jar for a low price, eh?
We'll be back later this week with a fun new video, and hopefully soon, a slightly re-done website. Come back, we'll miss you.
WATCH OUR ARMOR GAMES AD AGAIN!
1/12/08: BID ON A JAR OF ROCK JAM!
In case you're one of the MILLIONS that begged us for a jar of Rock Jam to fix your Rock Band instruments, you can now bid on an official jar on Ebay right here! Even if you don't have Rock Band, just know that you're bidding on something that tastes really, really good.
We wanted to take a minute to re-emphasize our ad for Armor Games- We don't think enough people saw it in our last update, and that's just not fair to our buddies at Armor Games. Please watch this and be serious about it.
We'll be back on Tuesday with a new podcast. We're sorry that the iTunes feed for the video podcast still isn't working. We're on it and it should be fine soon. Fingers crossed!
See you Tuesday!
1/8/08: "ROCK JAM" CURES ROCK BAND INSTRUMENTS! MEGA64 PODCAST 32 CURES BOREDOM! ARMORGAMES.COM CURES... OUR LACK OF SPONSORS i don't know
Stay tuned because we may offer a way to buy Rock Jam in the near future!
Speaking of staying tuned- The Mega64 Podcast Episode 32 has been released! It's, uh... okay, we forgot to hook our microphones up, so it sounds awful, okay? It was a long day. We forget things. But we do make a surprise announcement, so check it out! Audio podcast is here, video is here, and at the bottom of this page.
We'd also like to thank ArmorGames for sponsoring us this month! Our buddies at AG just redesigned their site, and now you can view our official infomercial for the occasion. We take website redesigns VERY seriously, and we hope that comes across in our infomercial program.
Be sure to come back every Tuesday for more video madness! Until then, watch this new video podcast where we talk about how cosplayers really hate us.
1/1/08: MEGA64 KICKS OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH OUTSTANDING NEW PODCAST RECORD
Having just launched the official Mega64 Video Podcast last week, we thought we'd break the world record for "Quickest Podcast Collapse" by not offering a new episode this week. We apologize- It was due to unforseen disaster, and we all feel truly, truly horrible about it.
But hey, if you REALLY want your Mega64 fix for the week, come see us at Anime Los Angeles on Saturday, January 5th at 11! There'll be fun and guests and free stuff and surprises! And big swords.
We'll be back next week with some new videos. Until then, happy 2008!
PODCAST 12/24/07
12/24/07: MEGA64 LAUNCHES VIDEO PODCAST ON CHRISTMAS EVE! wow santa thank you
It's Christmas Eve, so I'll be brief here for all our sakes- But honestly, we have to thank you guys for the absolute craziest year Mega64 has ever seen. Because of you guys, three dumbasses in San Diego are living their dream. I show up to our new office every day now and just gasp. I'm about to thrash around in front of a green screen with two of my best friends, and this is my job. This is my job. Whether it lasts or not, we have no one to thank but all of you for making this whole thing happen. All of our expectations have gone far beyond exceeded. We hope in 2008, we exceed yours.
Of course, as always with Mega64 and expectations... you'd better still keep them nice and low.
There's just a few things in the new store now, but we'll be adding much more soon. You won't believe the new stuff. I can't believe anyone's buying stuff from us in the first place. Feh!
Check back later tonight or early tomorrow for our new podcast. It won't be a video podcast, but we're working towards that very soon. You won't be disappointed!
12/5/07: THE BACKYARD MESSIAHZ ARE BACK! NEW VGA SPOT AND DVD'S ON CHRISTMAS CLEARANCE!
If the new 60 second spot isn't enough for you, then be sure to check out the outtakes/deleted scenes video we put up too! It's definitely, uh... improvised.
We'll be back in the next few days with the third and final commercial we made for SpikeTV! There'll probably be another outtakes video too... and I hear it might possibly be the most epic video we've ever put out. Do you think the rumors are true? Hmmm...
See you in a few days!
12/1/07: MEGA64 DOES ADS FOR 2007 VIDEO GAME AWARDS, INTERVIEWS NICE OLD PEOPLE AND TOURISTS
We also included a BONUS outtake video from the shoot! We'll be doing that with all three of the commercials we made... which should be released fairly soon. And trust me, they're better than this one.
We'll update again soon to show you the other VGA ads, as well as the beginning of our video podcast show, and a few other surprises! And is the merch site coming back anytime soon? Hmmm...
Now although you may be excited over this brand new podcast, be careful, for something sinister has happened upon this site update- The merch store has been completely shut down!
PHOTO: SHOPPING CHAOS AT MEGA64.COM ONLINE STORE AS DOORS CLOSE
Despite the mass chaos and potential holiday sales rush, the Mega64.com merch store has been shut down. Why you ask? Because we're rebuilding. We'll be returning soon with an all new Mega64 store. All of our merch, in one place, in a form you won't quite expect. It'll be quite an experiment! But will it work? Time will tell.
PHOTO: CHANTAL FIGHTS OVER LAST TETRIS SHIRT IN STOCK
We'll be back soon with the new store, as well as some sweet new videos! And maybe even the debut of our video podcast show! Watch out Diggnation! Be careful, DLTV! Kill yourselves, Rumor Girls.
As you may have heard, we are directing a music video for one of our favorite bands, Freezepop. It's for their song "Brainpower" and we're hoping to have it released for you soon- Just in time for the song to be featured in "Rock Band" later this month. More on that later!
You can even call into the show via Skype and ask questions. We don't know if that's a good or bad thing yet.
But in any case, watch and see what happens. We just might even have a surprise announcement...
See you then!
10/31/07: HALLOWEEN MEGA-UPDATE! NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. 3 SKIT! AND THE FULL SLOWDRAW ALBUM TOO! spooky
Behold, our new skit for Super Mario Bros. 3! Straight from the upcoming "Version 3," this skit is pretty much Mega64 at its most simplified. And we'll spoil the ending for you now- The real world definitely isn't ready yet for vehicular footware of any kind. ESPECIALLY if you have to wind it up.
And as if that wasn't enough, we bring a very special gift to all our hardcore fans- After huge demand, Garrett Hunter has finally released the full "Slowdraw the Hungry Eskimo" album. Slowdraw's music has been found in multitudes of Mega64 videos- And now the entire album is yours to own. Oh, I guess I should mention that it's totally free and you can download it right here. We are so happy that Garrett has released this- It's one of our favorite albums ever and it's so cool to see an eager public finally be able to hear it after all this time.
But the ultimate question remains- Which part of the update is better? The skit or the album? Post on our forums and tell us! It's a statistical dead heat!
We'll be back soon with some more news... we think you'll be pretty surprised by it.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! BOOOOOOOOOOO LOOK OUT
10/25/07: MEGA64 PODCAST #27 RISES AMONGST THE FLAMES! AND OTHER HUGE NEWS!
We have a few big news items that we're really excited to tell you about. First off- The Mega64 Podcast will soon go video. That's right, enjoy our thrilling podcast in either audio OR video! Look for this to happen sometime in the near future. We're building a set right now for it, which brings us to the next news item...
Mega64 now has an official studio. That's right, we just signed the papers on the official Mega64 Headquarters in San Diego! We're moving in and building sets right now, so we're super busy. It's really surreal to not only have quit our regular day jobs, but to be moving into this huge place dedicated solely to this stupid show we do. It's literally life-changing and once again, we can only thank you guys for this. What an amazing experience.
We'll close this update with pictures of the new studio, and this promise: New skit on the site within the next week, and a bonus gift for all the hardcore fans. See you real soon.
10/16/07: MEGA64 "VASE HOLDER" SHIRTS ON CLEARANCE FOR $6: PRICE DROP- PRESS RELEASE
I have received hundreds of emails from Mega64 Vase Holder shirt customers who are upset about Mega64 dropping the price of the shirts to $6. After reading every one of these emails, I have some observations and conclusions.
First, I am sure that we are making the correct decision to lower the price, and that now is the right time to do it. The Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt is a breakthrough product, and we have the chance to 'go for it' this holiday season. The Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt is so far ahead of the competition, and now it will be affordable by even more customers. It benefits both Mega64 and every Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt wearer to get as many new customers as possible in the Mega64 'tent'. We strongly believe the $6 price will help us do just that this holiday season.
Second, being in technology for 30+ years I can attest to the fact that the technology road is bumpy. There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cutoff date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever. This is life in the technology lane. If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you'll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon. The good news is that if you buy products from companies that support them well, like Mega64 tries to do, you will receive years of useful and satisfying service from them even as newer models are introduced.
Third, even though we are making the right decision to lower the price of the Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt, and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.
Therefore, we have decided to offer every Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt customer a free iPhone. Go to Apple's website and ask them for one and they will be cool with it, we talked. Go ahead.
We want to do the right thing for our valued Mega64 Vase Holder Shirt customers. We apologize for disappointing some of you, and we are doing our best to live up to your high expectations of Mega64.
Rocco Botte
Mega64 CEO
10/5/07: PODCAST 26 GOES UP EARLY! AND SOME OTHER COMPLETELY UNIMPORTANT INFORMATION.
So, we explain this whole thing much, much better on the podcast, but we'll just kinda talk about it here a little too. You can now find Mega64 videos in HD on IGN's Insider service. We'll have a new video on there every two weeks, so subscribe if you're so inclined. The videos are pretty much the most random-ass clips possible, dug deep from the Mega64 trenches (Think the kind of stuff you'd find on our "Mega64 Time" DVD), like bizarre skits, convention antics, footage from our podcasts, and so on! If you're a hardcore fan, you'll love it. If you think it sounds lame, don't worry about it- This won't affect Mega64.com itself in any way. Everything will go on as usual. It's just an extra thing we're doing. And if you're willing to throw IGN a few bucks, we really think you'll enjoy it.
Mega64 is really going through a lot of crazy stuff right now, and shockingly, all of it is pretty positive. It's an insane time for us, but it couldn't be any better. And we know this kind of thing sounds cliché to say, but... it really is because of you guys. Seriously. For some reason, you guys just keep coming back and watching our stupid videos. Just you doing that has changed our lives so radically. We'll talk more about all this stuff happening as time goes on. I think you'll be pretty shocked by a lot of it... just like we are, day after day.
Be back soon!
9/29/07: HALO LAUNCH VIDEO OUTTAKES AND PHOTO GALLERY! BOTH ARE ACTUALLY BETTER THAN HALO 3. I'M NOT EVEN BEING REMOTELY FACETIOUS HERE.
Also, due to popular demand (That's not even a joke- An alarming amount of you guys emailed me for this)- We just put up a Halo 3 launch night photo gallery! When you're done looking at it, you will have sworn you had been there, outside a game store in Santee with us. It is just THAT epic.
We'll be back soon with some cool stuff.
9/25/07: BUNGIE COMPLETELY RUINED OUR NIGHT- WATCH OUR VIDEO INSTEAD OF PLAYING THEIR GAME
If you don't feel like downloading the HD version of this video on your computer, then watch it in HD on your Xbox 360- It should be going up on Xbox Live shortly (if it hasn't already).
We'll be back later this week, probably with another video. But tonight. WE ARE PISSED TONIGHT.
9/22/07: PODCAST #25 RELEASED! MEGA64 ON SPIKETV MONDAY NIGHT AT 12:30!
As you may have heard in Rocco's recent tell-all interview on Coin-Op TV, Mega64 has plans to release a new segment on 9/25/07, at 12:30AM on SpikeTV's "Gamehead." We've also been told it might be showing up on Xbox Live that same night too in High Definition.
What could this segment be, you ask? Well, think really hard about what game might be coming out that same night, and we think some of you brainiacs just might be able to piece it together!
The skit will also be on our site a little later too, of course.
So there, quick news update. We almost might be ready to finally make a big announcement regarding something cool with Mega64 soon. We're really excited about it. We hope you are too.
See you then!
9/15/07: ROCCO ON COIN-OP TV LIVE TOMORROW AT 8PM PST!
9/10/07: TETRIS SHIRTS BACK IN STOCK, MEGA64 IN DA MEDIA
Our Tetris shirts are finally back in our online store! We know you guys have been bugging us for like two years now to bring them back, so hey, we did it. Buy them now before they disappear again! And don't forget they come with super mysterious secret prizes, too!
And that reminds me- We want to put a big Sexy64 gallery on the site, of all the people who sexified themselves for our Sexy64 contest a while back. But the thing is, Myspace shut down the Sexy64 page (Apparently due to us "faking our age." Uh, okay), so we can't really find all your pictures anymore. If you'd like your Sexy64 photos to show up on Mega64.com in our gallery, email your photos and links to rocco@mega64.com and we'll round 'em all up!
We'll be back later with more news, and possibly a new video... stay tuned!
9/3/07: WASTE YOUR LABOR DAY ON MEGA64 PODCAST #24
We just put up the 24th episode of the Mega64 Podcast! We spend this one talking about our PAX experience, as well as the other usual hogwash. There's no work today so you have no excuse to listen (like you have a job anyway)!
If you happen to enjoy watching Mega64 clips in HD, you'll be pleased to know that from now on, every single new Mega64 clip will be in High Definition. But don't worry! Just because each video will be higher resolution and gorgeous doesn't mean they won't still look totally unprofessional. And isn't that what Mega64 is really all about?
So, after watching the V3 trailer, some of you might be thirsty for a new Mega64 DVD, like, right now. Some of you claim that "Mega64 Time" just wasn't enough. Well, we MIGHT have some sort of consolation prize for you. We'd like formally announce here that Rocco Botte of Mega64 has been put in charge of filming and editing the PAX 2007 DVD! When he wasn't at the Mega64 booth, he was off filming the craziest parts of the convention in glorious HD. We're not sure when the DVD will be finished or released, but we think it's safe to assume there'll be some Mega64 convention antics in there somewhere. We'll keep you posted!
Come back later this week- We're hoping to have a delayed Podcast #24 for you, plus, our Tetris shirts will finally be back in stock! We had some leftover from PAX, and apparently you guys wanna buy them, so hey, why not throw 'em in the online store? Look for 'em soon.
We know this update has been PAX-heavy, but we really do want to thank each and every person there who was either at our booth or our panel. You guys made this one of the best conventions we have ever been to. Some of you guys even wrote about our panel... or filmed us playing Rock Band (should we be creeped out?). In any case, thanks for being there. You guys were an absolute joy to hang out with for a weekend, and it meant a lot to us.
Now let us wipe those tears from our eyes! Onward we go! On the next update, we shall meet again!
7/26/07: MEGA64 TIME DVD ON SALE NOW! FINAL FANTASY XII SKIT RELEASED! THEATER PREMIERE TONIGHT! LORD.
We figured we'd debut that video here since the people going to the screening and seeing it on the big screen are probably there and away from their computers. We gotta throw something back to the internet, right?
The Mega64 Podcast Number 22 is finally up! It's kinda plagued with technical problems (new gear over here, folks), but... hey, if you want to drudge through it, more power to you.
We'll see you on Thursday, when our Mega64 Time MEGA UPDATE goes up! The DVD will finally be on sale! And... maybe another surprise!
WEEEEEE! SEE YA THURSDAY!!
7/19/07: JULY 26TH APPROACHES- ARE YOU READY FOR THE MEGA64 TIME/COMIC CON/THEATER SCREENING ONSLAUGHT?

But we will also have ULTRA RARE COMIC CON 2007 EXCLUSIVE POSTERS (ONLY 10 IN EXISTENCE) only for the most HARDCORE Mega64 fans. Come by the booth and challenge us to the MEGA64 TRIVIA CHALLENGE to see if you're good enough to own one of these elusive relics!

(And remember, if you ordered tickets already, you don't need a confirmation- Just come on down with your email address and we'll be able to look you up!)
Gosh, what else would make next week the craziest week in Mega64 history? It almost seems like it might be the perfect time to release a new skit based on one of the most popular series in game history... I dunno, am I wrong? Oh well, I usually am.
Buy the DVD on July 26th and prop up that cover on every shelf, desk, car, and intersection you possibly can!
We thought now might also be a good time to tell you what's actually on the DVD, so here's the final video list!

We'll be back, probably around Tuesday, with the debut of the Mega64 Time cover and a list of all its content. Oh, and also, a potentially late podcast. Hey, we're busy, sue us.
Okay, we gotta get back to work on Mega64 Time. There are WAY too many videos on this thing and it's making me start to kinda miss VHS. Am I alone here?
See you soon.
